Starting The Celery Juice Craze? Everything You Need To Know.
What better way to start my ‘Health’ page than with a much-requested article on celery juice.
Now, if anyone knows me, they know that I place an incredibly high value on eating healthy, exercising, and living a overall clean lifestyle. The importance of physical exercise and good eating habits have been achieved after years of struggling with my weight and living with very unhealthy mindsets throughout my life; Stories I will share later on. With that said, however, I don’t do health trends. The juice cleanses, supplements, and fad diets that people would constantly rave about were, in my opinion, nothing but inconsistent, nutrient-depriving “diets” that ultimately would hurt your body in the end. It wasn’t until researching about celery juice that I not only started drinking it, but I was swearing by it. Even if you’ve somehow managed to never drink something green in your life, you’ve probably heard about celery juice and if you are deciding to start, here is everything you need to know about the reaping benefits of celery juice and how to successfully obtain it’s optimal nutrients starting today.
What I have learned over the years is that everything starts in the gut. What happens in the gut, affects everything else in your body. In order to lose weight, obtain clear skin, and improve overall health, you must have a healthy gut. Celery juice has the power completely reverse an inflamed gut by flushing out toxic debris out of your tract and, in turn, improve the elasticity of your skin, your digestion, mental acuity, immune system, and physical energy. After referring to Medical Medium Anthony Williams, I also learned that celery juice has the power to starve viruses, mold, yeast, and unproductive bacteria that are present in the body. It also benefits people suffering with chronic illnesses and repairs the liver and its functions (Williams).
Celery juice itself contains not only an immense amount of nutrients such as vitamin C and K, folate, and potassium, but studies show that celery may help to fight against cancer and liver disease, reduce inflammation (especially for brain-related diseases) and boost cardiovascular health (Today). “It also is concentrated with cluster salts that are unique and special in the way they support the liver’s personalized immune system and bind onto toxins and help flush them from the liver”; A component that is hard to obtain by just eating celery stalks (Williams). Although juicing celery removes the fiber from the plant, its healing benefits become much more powerful and bioavailable which, in turn, improves your overall gut health.
HOW I INCORPORATED CELERY JUICE INTO MY ROUTINE:
For optimal benefits, celery juice is best to be taken on a empty stomach every morning, freshly pressed. Allow at least fifteen minutes after drinking before eating any solid foods. I always set my alarm a little bit earlier to juice the celery for the morning. I drink the juice immediately after juicing and start to get ready for the day during those fifteen minutes. If I workout in the morning, I drink my celery juice, go to the gym, and eat after working out. It is also advised to drink at least sixteen oz. of plain celery juice; drink celery juice without any other vegetable or fruit. It takes roughly one large bunch of celery to make sixteen ounces of juice, so make sure you stock up on organic celery and rinse before juicing.
1 bunch of rinsed, organic celery
Juicer of choice
Optional: a squeeze of lemon
Juice celery into at least a 16oz glass, add ice, and lemon (if desired). Drink immediately.
HOW HAS CELERY JUICE AFFECTED MY HEALTH:
Celery juice has been a part of my routine for over a month now, and I can honestly say it has made me feel much happier and healthier. During the first week, I already noticed that I had way more energy than before. I don’t drink coffee and always felt that I had enough energy during the day, but with celery juice I had better mental acuity in the morning and more stamina during the day. However, it wasn’t until the second week when I really saw improvement. My skin improved tremendously and my eczema on my arms were less red and less bumpy than before. Many said that when starting to drink celery juice, your skin might be impaired because of the release of toxins from the inside out. My skin had a few blemishes, but soon after I noticed a much dewier complexion. Celery juice is also known to clear out any unproductive gut bacteria which can cause cravings. As many know, I am a sucker for chocolate, so the fact that my cravings for sugary foods were rarely occurring was reason enough for me to keep this in my routine. I feel less bloated, more refreshed, and overall happier than before I started.
